Female Support Worker – Complex Care – Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan

We are currently seeking caring and compassionate female support workers who are eager to build up their experience within complex care; specifically, with tracheostomies. We require a support worker from to join our team in the Cardiff area, to work in our client’s home.

The successful support worker will provide complex care support for our female client who is living with a neurological condition; duties include but are not limited to: personal care, medication administration, respiratory care, pressure area care, nebulisers and PEG feeding. It is essential that support workers have excellent communication and observation skills as our client is non-verbal. The ideal support worker will have experience of working within a complex care setting however this is not necessary as we will provide a range of specialist training which is tailored to the individual needs of our client.

Support workers will be required to commit to working 09:00 until 15:00 Monday,  Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. We are offering a competitive pay rate starting at £8.99; holiday pay will be paid on top of the standard pay rate.  In addition, we will pay support workers for any time spent in our Cardiff branch attending mandatory and specialist training.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
• Personal care
• Medication administration
• PEG feeding
• Respiratory care (tracheostomy management and tracheal suctioning)
• Nebulisers
• Moving and handling
• Pressure area care
• Oral suctioning

The ideal Support Worker will have:
• A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
• A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential)
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred but no essential)
• Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and person centred care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of professional boundaries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team.
