Female Support Worker – Complex Care – Sunderland, Tyne-and-Wear

We are currently seeking outgoing and confident support workers who are eager to build up their experience within complex care. We require a female support worker to join our team in Sunderland, to work in our client’s home.

The successful support worker will provide complex care support for our female client who is living with motor neurone disease and dementia; duties include but are not limited to: personal care, respiratory care, PEG feeding, medication administration, nebulisers, oral suctioning and continence care. Our client is non verbal so it is important that as a support worker you have excellent communication and observational skills. The ideal support worker will have experience of working within a complex care setting however this is not essential as we will provide a range of specialist training which is tailored to the individual needs of our client. 

Support workers will be required to commit to working a minimum of 20 hours per week (08:00 – 20:00 days or 20:00 – 08:00 waking nights). We are offering a competitive pay rate of up to £8.60, dependent on experience.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
• Personal care
• Medication administration
• Nebulisers
• Oral suctioning
• Continence care
• Respiratory care (tracheostomy care and management, tracheal suctioning, invasive ventilator care and management, humidifiers and oxygen)
• PEG feeding, care and management

The ideal Support Worker will have:
• A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
• A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential) 
• Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and person centred care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of professional boundaries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team.
