Female Support Worker – End of life – Whitchurch, Vale of Glamorgan

We are currently seeking passionate and enthusiastic female support workers who are eager to build up their experience within complex care. We require a support worker to join our team in Cardiff, to work in our client’s home; experience of working within complex care is essential.

The successful support worker will provide end of life, complex care support support for our young female client who is living with advanced motor neurone disease; duties include but are not limited to: personal care, respiratory care, gastrostomy care and management, cough assist and medication administration. To enable you to meet the unique demands of this role we will provide a range of specialist training which is tailored to the individual needs of our client. 

We are recruiting for evening shifts in this role (19:00 until 23:00); we may be able to offer additional shifts with other client's in the area. We are offering a pay rate starting at £8.99 per hour, dependent on experience; holiday pay will be paid in addition to this rate. In addition, we will pay support workers for any time spent in the Cardiff branch attending mandatory and specialist training.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
• Personal care
• Medication administration
• Gastrostomy care and management
• Respiratory care (non-invasive ventilator)
• Oral suctioning

The ideal Support Worker will have:
• A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
• A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential) 
• Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and person-centred care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of professional boundaries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team
