Support Worker – Parkinson’s disease – Canterbury, Kent

We are currently seeking caring and passionate support workers who are keen to build up their experience within complex care. We require a support worker from to join our team in the Canterbury area, to work in our client’s home.

The successful support worker will provide complex care support to our male client who is living with severe Parkinson’s disease and Dyskinesia; duties include but are not limited to: personal care, medication administration and meal preparation. It is important that support workers have experience of working with mental health conditions or similar as our client can present with challenging behaviours when unwell. To support you in your new role we will provide a range of specialist training which is tailored to the individual needs of our client.

This great new opportunity will pay a highly competitive rate of up to £9.60 per hour, dependent on experience and you will be expected to commit to two 12 hour shifts per week (08:00 until 20:00 or 20:00 until 08:00); you will also work alternate weekends as part of a rota.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
• Personal care
• Medication administration
• Meal preparation 

The ideal Support Worker will have:
• A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
• A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential) 
• Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and person centred care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of professional boundaries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team.
