Learning Disabilities and Autism Support Worker – Bradford
Working Hours: Various Mon – Sat
Pay rate: Up to £12.33 per hour
I am currently recruiting for an experienced Learning Disabilities and Autism Support worker with significant experience to join this specialist community care package in Bradford supporting a young male living with a diagnosis of Learning Disabilities and Autism. Our client can sometimes display behaviours of concern so the ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar setting and understand these needs.
The successful support worker will be working as part of a team to offer structure and consistency whilst maintaining boundaries.

The ideal individual will be a driver who is an excellent communicator, experienced in encouraging positive behaviour within a complex social setting. You will have experience working within secure units, a residential unit or a SEN school. You will be able to work both autonomously and collaboratively and deliver consistently high levels of care.
Your daily role will include supporting during education, enabling the client to access the community including shopping, youth clubs and sport clubs. This is a very challenging but rewarding package in which you will spend your day doing a variety of activities in order to provide this client with the best quality of life. In order to support you with the unique demands of this package we provide a range of specialist training; Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA), Bespoke Autism Training and Positive Behavioural Support. We will also provide you with expert support and specialist training to help you develop in your care career.
Responsibilities for the Learning Disabilities and Autism Support Worker
Supporting and providing guidance to clients with complex learning disabilities in the community
Comply with all legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines
Ensure medicines are appropriately received, stored and administered
Supervise and monitor standards of care and take appropriate action to improve standards when required
Ensure all clinical documentation is well maintained and filed in the appropriate places
The ideal Learning Disabilities and Autism Support Worker will have:
A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential)
Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
Good knowledge of safeguarding and person centered care
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good understanding of professional boundaries
Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team
