Support Worker – Palliative Care - Newcastle

We are currently seeking committed and enthusiastic support workers who are keen to build up their experience within complex care. We require a support worker from to join our team in the Newcastle area, to work in our client’s home.

The successful support worker will provide palliative care for our female client who has breast cancer; duties include but are not limited to: medication administration and help with moving around as our client can be unsteady on her feet. The ideal support worker will have experience of working within complex care however this is not necessary as we will provide a range of specialist training which is tailored to the individual needs of our client.

This great new opportunity will pay a highly competitive rate of up to £9 per hour including holiday pay, dependent on experience and you will be expected to commit to working two 12 hour shifts per week (08:00 until 20:00 or 20:00 until 08:00); you will also work alternate weekends as part of a rota.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
• Assistance with moving around
• Medication administration

The ideal Support Worker will have:
• A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
• A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential) 
• Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and person centred care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of professional boundaries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team.
