Weekend Support Worker – Complex Care – Swindon, Wiltshire

We are currently seeking caring and compassionate support workers who are eager to build up their experience within complex care. We require a support worker to join our team in the Swindon area, to work in our client’s home.

The successful support worker will provide complex care support for our male client who is living with various complex interrelating conditions; duties include but are not limited to: personal care, respiratory care, catheter and continence care, diabetes management, moving and handling, pressure area care and medication administration. It is important that support workers are aware of the risks associated with our client’s condition such as Autonomic Dysreflexia. The ideal support worker will have experience of working with complex care needs however we will provide a range of specialist training which is tailored to the individual needs of our client.

We are looking for a support worker who can work alternate weekends, 10:30 until 22:30. We are offering a highly competitive pay rate ranging from £10 to £11.25 per hour. Support workers will need to have a full UK driving licence as they will be required to drive our client’s mobility car.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
• Complying with all legal, regulatory and best practice guidelines
• Ensuring medicines are appropriately received, stored and administered
• Supervising and monitoring standards of care and taking appropriate action to improve standards when required
• Ensuring all documentation is well maintained and filed in the appropriate places
• Performing clinical interventions related to our client’s condition

The ideal Support Worker will have:
• A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
• A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential)
• Full UK driving licence
• Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and person centred care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of professional boundaries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team.
