Female Support Worker (Live In) – Spinal Injury – Ellerton, East Riding of Yorkshire

We are currently seeking committed and enthusiastic support workers who are keen to build up their experience within complex care. We require a female support worker from to join our team in Ellerton, to work and live in our client’s home.

The successful support worker will provide complex care support for our elderly female client who is living with a spinal injury and dementia; duties include but are not limited to: personal care, pressure area care, spinal care and respiratory care. The ideal support worker will have experience of working with spinal injuries however this is not necessary as we will provide a range of specialist training which is tailored to the individual needs of our client.

Support workers are likely to work for two weeks followed by two weeks off (Monday to Sunday), however this will be confirmed at a later stage. We are offering a competitive pay rate of up to £8.50 per hour; holiday pay will be paid in addition to standard pay rate.  Due to the rural location of this role, support workers will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have an access to a vehicle.

As a Support Worker, you will be responsible for:
• Personal care
• Medication administration
• Pressure area care and skin integrity care
• Moving and handling
• Spinal care (Autonomic Dysrefelxia and Poikilothermia awareness)
• Respiratory care (Tracheostomy and ventilator)

The ideal Support Worker will have:
• A diploma level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (preferred but not essential)
• A current enhanced DBS on the update service (preferred but not essential) 
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
• Previous paid experience in Health and Social Care in the UK
• Good knowledge of safeguarding and person centred care
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good understanding of professional boundaries
• Ability to use own initiative and work as part of wider team.
