Glasgow team charity cycle in aid of Debra
On Saturday 30th May our brave (and slightly crazy) team from Glasgow completed a 22 mile charity cycle from the Falkirk Wheel to Linlithgow place and back again, to raise money for Debra.
Thankfully the weather held out and it was a particularly sunny day for the cycle. Here’s a few words from the team:
We thought we wouldn't manage with having no training however we all survived and thoroughly enjoyed it. We even extended the cycle to 27 miles to make the most of the glorious day. It was also very valuable team building experience. Although as we cycled along the river I did ask a few people on the boat's to give us a lift but they told us to keep moving!
The cycle from Falkirk to Linlithgow was fantastic, we passed through some beautiful countryside, with stunning views of the river Forth, the famous Kelpie sculptures and in the distance the Forth road and rail bridges. It was good to spend some leisure time with colleagues and to cap it all, the sun was shining all day for us -unusual for Scotland!
We had a fantastic day and thought this would be an uphill struggle but found it to be lot of fun, finished off with a lovely team meal afterwards.
We had a great day, although the first part was up the biggest hill there was on the whole trip! It was a lovely sunny day, with sunburn to prove it! We met lots of different people along the way who were asking about our charity Debra and where we were going – it was great to spread awareness for the charity. Half way through the cycle we decided that we should try a water sport next time or something a little less painful although it was all worth it.
So far the team have managed to raise over £600. To donate to Debra and to support the Glasgow team for their efforts please visit their Just Giving page.
